Wonder Woman 2: Kristen Wiig confirmed as the villain

Wonder Woman 2: Kristen Wiig confirmed as the villain

Director Patty Jenkins confirmed the news in a tweet on Friday.

With a tweet on March 9, Jenkins announced the news and shared that she "can't wait to finally work with one of [her] favorites".

The 44-year-old actress and comedian will play villain Cheetah, who possesses superhuman strength and agility. "This is going to be WONDERful", she wrote.

Fans can expect to see a lot of Wiig in the upcoming movie, as the plot is set to focus on the rivalry between Cheetah and Wonder Woman.

One of the few big glimmers of hope however was Wonder Woman, which we've had a hard time not raving about since it first landed.

They love to monologue and they love to lie, both skills Wiig perfected with her just-left-of-sociopath character Penelope, habitual hyperbolizer (a word I just made up and that you should feel free to spread around).

"Wonder Woman" lead Gal Gadot also expressed her excitement to have the "Bridesmaids" star aboard. Turns out, Kristen Wiig has been confirmed to play Cheetah, the villain in the film! The film's story will focus on Cheetah and we will probably get to see her backstory as well. Wonder Woman 2 debuts on November 1, 2019, but in 2018, make sure to watch out for James Wan's Aquaman when it debuts in theaters on December 21.
