German Bundesliga Report: Bayern Munich v Borussia Monchengladbach 14 April 2018

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness insists the club did nothing wrong in announcing Niko Kovac's appointment despite claims of disrespect from Eintracht Frankfurt director of football Fredi Bobic.

Hoeness responded after Bayern's 5-1 rout of Borussia Moenchengladbach on Saturday, telling Sky TV, "We deliberately didn't say anything about it yesterday because we found the comments of Fredi Bobic to be quite outrageous".

"Very annoying, unprofessional and lacking in respect", Bobic said of Kovac's switch being made public. We used a clause in Niko Kovac's contract that [Bobic] put in himself. "I have a lot of trust in him", he said. "Bayern have thought of themselves and not for a second about Eintracht Frankfurt".

The Croat, who had also coached his country at the last World Cup in Brazil, had impressed by helping Frankfurt survive relegation in 2016 before leading them to contention for a European slot for next season. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will meet in the Champions League semi-final and Colombia worldwide James Rodríguez is on loan at Bayern from the LaLiga side.

However, veteran coach Jupp Heynckes, who came out of retirement to lead Bayern, will not extend his stay, hence the need for the club to find a replacement.

The 46-year-old, who had a long playing career in the Bundesliga, was at Bayern between 2001-3.

Born in Berlin to Croatian parents, both brothers played for the Croatian national team as well as Bayern.

But an upset Hoeness rubbished the allegations of a leak, saying the Bavarian outfit had acted appropriately in the pursuit of their former player and timed the decision to soften the impact on Frankfurt.
