Wolverhampton Wanderers promoted to the Premier League

Premier League clubs were quick to congratulate Wolves on their promotion success with Premier League champions-in-waiting Manchester City leading the way.

Wolves' promotion to the Premier League was confirmed on Saturday after Fulham's 1-1 draw with Brentford.

The Midlanders have led by example in the Championship this season despite irking rivals over their relationship with agent Jorge Mendes.

Ruben Neves - signed from Porto for a record £15.8m during the summer - made his mark on the scoreboard early in the second half, with one of the best goals you're likely to see scored at any level this campaign.

Yet if second-placed Fulham fail to beat Brentford at home on Sunday morning (Singapore time), Wolves could even be celebrating promotion before their match.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have occupied the top spot in the Championship table since November and despite a poor run of results at the turn of the year, they still need only four points to be crowned champions.

Aston Villa's 1-0 win over Leeds on Friday also kept them in the battle for automatic promotion, three points behind Fulham.
