Could A Cure For Male Pattern Baldness Could Be On The Horizon?

A drug used to treat brittle bones could help to treat baldness within days, new research suggests.

Researchers have found a potential new treatment for hair loss using a drug originally intended for osteoporosis.

Researchers say there are now two drugs to treat so-called male-pattern balding on the market.

Therefore, external application of this agent to a balding scalp may promote hair growth to the same degree as CsA except without the severe side effects.

The team's experiments revealed that CsA curbs SFRP1, a protein that keeps various tissues like hair follicles from growing and developing.

When he then treated hair follicles with WAY-316606, the unrelated agent also effectively enhanced human hair growth like CsA. The immunosuppressive drug can treat a wide range of conditions and diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis, and prevents the rejection of organ transplants.

The team hasn't yet tested the drug in clinical trials, but they believe that this discovery could be a new way of treating hair loss in men and women.

The study was published Tuesday in the open access journal PLOS Biology.

The compound WAY-316606 could therefore be used to treat baldness, without patients suffering the same side effects as they would on CsA.

The scientists think the drug, which is called "WAY-316606", can be "administered without dramatic side-effects", according to CNBC.

But they could soon have the choice between being bald or having a thick thatch of hair, as scientists claim they might have found a cure for male pattern baldness. and people could see results within DAYS. The only alternate to drugs is a hair transplant which several celebrities have opted for.

It started with a hunt for novel agents to treat male pattern baldness, it marked down few candidates that were recognized to have hair growth as a outcome owing to their other damaging effects.

Now, researchers hope that clinical trails will prove beyond a doubt that a compound used to treat osteoporois, can help boost hair growth and relieve the stress and embarrassment many feel due to their thinning mop.
