How to watch a lost Pyramid-size asteroid buzz by Earth

On May 8, 2018, an asteroid was spied and given the name Zj99C60 until scientists realized this was the return of Asteroid 2010 WC9. It can be inferred from this that the asteroid would pass somewhere midway in between the moon and the Earth. With 2010 WC9 at least three times the size of the Chelyabinsk asteroid, and possibly up to six-and-a-half times larger, it would cause a lot more damage than some broken glass and minor injuries. Again find a heavenly body was only may 8, 2018.

As per the latest reports, the asteroid would not hit the Earth.

In February of 2018 in Russian Federation offered for Dollars 210 billion to create a fusion megarocket to repel the attack from outer space (asteroid defense weapon). The Catalina Sky Survey in Arizona first detected it on November 30, 2010, and astronomers watched it until December 1, when it faded to see. It is now hurtling through space at more than 46,000 kilometers per hour, but there will not be any threat to the population on Earth during the closest approach at 6:05 pm EDT, EarthSky reported.

The asteroid, dubbed 2010 WC9, is about the size of a football field and will fly past Earth at about 28,655 miles per hour, according to EarthSky.

While this asteroid isn't a threat (this time) it does emphasize the need to keep a watchful eye on the sky to catalog and track as many space rocks as possible.

Observing: This one grabbed our attention when it cropped up on the Space Weather page for close asteroid passes this past weekend: a large, fast mover passing close to the Earth is a true rarity.

Astronomers hope to further observe asteroid 2010 WC9 in order to better refine its orbit. But, persons wishing to see the asteroid can tune in to Slooh, the astronomy broadcasting service beginning at 4 pm Alaska time.

"The asteroid will be moving quite rapidly (30 arc seconds per minute). Our display will update every five seconds", Guy Wells, the founding member of the observatory, told EarthSky.

"Once enough data had been collected by us, and other observatories, it soon became apparent that it wasn't a new asteroid". It's one of the closest approaches ever observed of an asteroid of this size.
