Microsoft Rumored To Work On A New Xbox One Controller

WindowsCentral says the controller should be officially announced between now and E3 2018.

Rumours have been circulating for a few months now that Microsoft has plans to release a heavily customizable Xbox controller designed with accessibility in mind.

The prototype above doesn't resemble a normal gamepad at all. These "A" and "B" buttons look to be programmable and will help gamers who do better with touch than sight.

For Xbox owners, they'll receive a system notification with a message that has a clickable redemption button.

As well as providing the ability to charge the controller, that USB port would likely be used for programming the pad to suit the gamer. On one side are the more typical Xbox controller menu buttons and d-pad. The folks at Windows Central have also noted a three-light LED indicator which suggests that there could be programming layers, indicating that the controller could be customized according to the gamer's needs.

In November a year ago, Microsoft chose to join the 21st century by introducing Xbox One gifting options to the Microsoft Store. You can check the leaked image of the controller at the top of this news. The design of the new controller is reportedly inspired by a smartphone form factor.

If you've been waiting for a great deal before picking up Microsoft's current mainstream Xbox - or have just been keeping an eye out for a cheap 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player - you're in luck: you can now snag the Xbox One S with up to five games for only $299.

You can't gift Xbox 360 digital games, nor OG Xbox games, nor pre-orders, no free products, nor DLC or currency to other Xbox users.
