Minecraft Bedrock Engine Coming To The Nintendo Switch

Minecraft Bedrock Engine Coming To The Nintendo Switch

More than a year after its release, the Nintendo Switch version of "Minecraft" will soon allow players to build blocky worlds with their friends across the Xbox, PC, mobile and VR platforms.

Like the Better Together update for Xbox One, those who already own Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition will be able to digitally upgrade to the Bedrock version free of charge.

The new Bedrock Edition will also receive a physical release on Switch alongside the digital version of the game. Sony isn't getting in on the crossplay action. It costs $29.99 and includes all previously released downloadable content, including the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack.

Meanwhile, Steve Escalante, General Manager of The Banner Saga developer Versus Evil, said: "Launching The Banner Saga on Nintendo Switch is an exciting moment for us; as we gear up in 2018 to enter the third and final chapter of the series, it's only fitting we give Nintendo players an opportunity to enjoy this award-winning Viking inspired saga where the journey begins". And just like on the other platforms, Minecraft on Nintendo Switch will now support achievements and Gamerscore, reflecting players' activities and experiences within the game. Mojang's Brand Director Lydia Winters speaks about "Minecraft" during the Microsoft xBox E3 briefing at the Galen Center on June 11, 2017 in Los Angeles, California. The game contains thousands of hand-crafted levels, a large amount of unlockable game content, and features both single-player and multiplayer modes. Console and gaming platform owners are, at times, selfish and don't exactly play nice with one another.

Nintendo Switch Edition has been a big hit as expected and a much-anticipated update is about to hit the game. It also finally opens up the Marketplace for the Switch, increasing the number of things Switch owners can spend their money on.
