Star NFL Cornerback Announces He's Retiring

On Monday, Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall told reporters he is retiring from the NFL.

Adam Schefter initially reported the news while fellow ESPN reporter John Keim added that Hall, 34, is "weighing offers to join a front office or work in TV".

Hall, the eighth overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, played 14 NFL seasons and was a three-time Pro Bowl selection.

Hall was traded from Atlanta to Oakland at the expiration of his rookie deal, and soon signed a large contract extension with the Raiders.

He earned Pro Bowl berths with the Falcons following the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

Hall redeemed himself with Washington.

Hall went on to play a significant role for the Redskins over the past decade, although injuries limited him significantly in recent years.

Former Redskins' defensive back, DeAngelo Hall is officially hanging up his football helmet. He switched to safety in 2015 at the request of the coaching staff. "I'm probably 95 percent sure I'm done playing football but I wanted to do it the right way", Hall said Monday night.

"I had a vision of a gold jacket, but the injuries the last couple years have been very hard on me", Hall said. Who's to say I can't get in there another way.

In 36 career games at Virginia Tech, Hall returned five punts for touchdowns while registering eight interceptions with one TD.

Hall has 43 career interceptions (23 with the Redskins) and once picked off four passes in a 2010 game against the Chicago Bears. That's my focus. I still want a gold jacket, whether I get one as an exec, a coach.
