WhatsApp 'Chat Filter' to launch soon: Here's how it works

All that's need is for someone to send you a message containing a odd black dot emoji and your device will crash in an instant.

A new Unicode bug has been discovered that carries the capability of crashing apps and operating systems. If this specially crafted text is sent through the Messages app, then it will result in repeated crashes when the recipient tries to read it.

A text bomb bug known as the "Black Dot" has been found in Apple's Messages app and is causing iPhones' to freeze and potentially overheat. The emoji itself is not bugged but has been used as a way to lure victims into revealing the mass string of invisible Unicode characters. Receiving one slows down the device, and with a large number of the same message received, it completely locks down the hardware, the YouTube channel claimed. So let's dive in to see some more details on the bug and how you can fix it if you have been affected by it.

Furthermore, it's not only the iPhones but the script has reportedly infected the macOS, as opening the message causes the system's memory consumption to shoot. Tapping on Search will open a Filter list which will allow you to apply filters like unread chats, broadcasts messages, or groups.

Tap on Edit and then tap on the circle to the left of the conversation that contains the message.

For those of you who do not have a 3D Touch functionality built in, you can simply follow the steps provided below. Users need to force-quit the Messages app on their devices and then open a New Message screen through a quick action by long-pressing the Messages app. Users will then be able to delete the conversation thread including the black dot message.

According to WhatsApp once you decide to delete your account, it is in an irreversible process that not even the app's creators can put back if you have done it by accident.
